The Rugmaker And Son are specialists in rug-making & whipping of exquisite runners, and mats for a range of uses.


In the early days, Jamie with 35yrs working in the carpet fitting industry, simply filled the ever-growing demand of homeowners wanting to make use of the spare carpet that they had ordered and had just had fitted. Some opted for carpet joining for a unique two-tone carpet look, whilst many wanted binding or whipping to create beautiful rugs out of their off-cuts.


After the Covid-19 pandemic, the business started to rapidly expand its reach and the services evolved from carpet whipping, edging and binding to much, much more. Whilst most  products are constructed at The Rugmaker And Son's workshop on the Surrey/Sussex border, the team can also work in-situ at the clients site.  Excuse the cliche, but there is literally no job too small.


Today The Rugmaker And Son have an enviable client-book of regional and national carpet shops, upholsterers, car manufacturers & residential homeowners and their recommendations.

    • Can I use your services if I am not a business?

      100% yes, our business is split between trade custom and the general public.


      As well as Stair Runners, we can create pray mats, car mats, living room rugs and much more.

    • What are your business hours?

      We generally work normal tradesman hours (including Saturday mornings) but if you have a bespoke requirement which could require us outside of these, then do not hesitate to contact us to discuss. We work for the general public, as much as for trade customers. 

    • Where is your main office?

      Whilst our workshop is on the Surrey/Sussex borders, our engineers work from their van and can carry out much of our work at your site or home.  And don't worry, cleanliness is part of our process, so your home, office or workplace is always protected and left tidy.

    • Do you cover the Midlands?

      Generally we work in the South East of England:  From our Surrey/Sussex base as far South East as Hastings and Dover; Down to the South Coast and as far South West as Southampton and Bournemouth; Whilst we cover all of London and up to Oxford, Cambridge and Colchester.


      If you are further afield, don't assume its not covered, simply get in touch! We would love to hear from you.


      We also offer a remote service on smaller items, such as pray mats and car mats.

    • How to pay The Rugmaker And Son

      Residential customers can pay via transfer, card or cash.  It will be advised upon booking whether this is in advance, on completion or a mixture of both.

    • Is there a referral or loyalty scheme in place?

      Yes, if you wish to refer The Rugmaker And Son there is more than just a thankyou.

    • Do you offer trade accounts?

      For volume trade work, we offer accounts in line with our credit checking process.  


      For residential customers, you will either pay in advance for small jobs, or on completion by bank transfer, cash or card on slighlty larger jobs where you aren't quoted an exact cost beforehand.
